As the original school bell rang out through our Great Hall, the scene was set. Our centenary had begun.

An action-packed show greeted the boys as Years 5 to 12 gathered for the first of the year's special events: the Centenary Assembly.
The Assembly featured entertainment and performances by the Knox Orchestra, bands, singers and pipers that took us back in time.
Boys from all year groups paraded the uniforms of eras past and showed off special Knox artefacts – capably assisted by History teacher and frequent Knox Master of Ceremonies, Christopher Leggo.
Headmaster Scott James brought the fun as he popped out of a Knox Boater Birthday Cake.
School Captain Zoltan Reed donned one of the Archives' most popular items...the original blazer owned by former Knox School Captain Hugh Jackman (OKG86).
The Centenary Assembly was also a chance to debut the original song, How Far We've Come, written especially for the centenary year by Contemporary Music Studies Co-ordinator Charlie Meadows – orchestrated by Co-Curricular Music Facilitator Andrew Chessher, in collaboration with Cale Slack-Smith (Y12) and Michael Shen (Y12). The song was performed by the Knox Symphony Orchestra, featuring Cale Slack-Smith (vocals), and with the guidance of Musical Supervisor Mr James Brice OAM.
After a most entertaining and insightful history lesson, the boys received their own centenary cupcake, kindly gifted by the Old Knox Grammarians' Association.
Sending the boys into the new school year, Headmaster Mr Scott James left them with this thought: "We are also responsible for taking that legacy from those young pioneers and contributing to that legacy moving forward.
"As much as our centenary is about looking back, it’s also about looking forward."
The Knox community is invited to share in the celebrations – visit our Centenary Website to follow along with the latest news, stay abreast of the fantastic events planned, and travel back in time with photo galleries, videos and a curated collection of stories and memorabilia.
...as much as our centenary is about looking back, it’s also about looking forward.
